If you have read my other blog, you will know that I have lived through three hurricanes when I lived in Florida. I actually went through Hurricane Andrew that hit South Florida and it wasn't pretty. Ever since, I have been all about be
emergency preparedness. Tom also lived through Hurricane Andrew so both of us know the importance of having the correct supplies on hand and to plan for anything that may happen.
That's where
Shelf Reliance comes in. The past few months as I trolled the Internet for blog giveaways and just reading different blogs, I discovered
Shelf Reliance. I kept seeing giveaways from the company offering cool
products that I found myself interested in. From their website:
SHELF RELIANCE is a company that specializes in food storage, storage rotation, and emergency-preparedness products. Our goal is to help families prepare for whatever tomorrow may bring, so they feel confident if disaster strikes. We believe in educating people so you can become self-reliant.

Of course, I had to go check it out for myself. It is amazing what this company has in store for you. Not only do they sell supplies but they have full food storage systems as well. The food rotation systems include free standing shelving systems,
CanSolidator pantry systems and ready racks. They also have
pre-assembled emergency kits for the whole family. They are filled with everything you need in an emergency. All you do is buy and it is ready. The coolest thing that they sell is Thrive Food. The food is freeze dried and packed in containers to keep it fresh. They have eggs, vegetables, grains, fruits and more. It is pretty amazing stuff. They even feature recipes on their site.

Now, you are probably saying why do I need this? Well, let me tell you after living through natural disasters without electricity or water for a few days, we were glad we were smart enough to have the supplies needed to make it through a few days. And Hurricane Katrina showed us that sometimes even the government does not have the resources to help everyone. Shelf Reliance just makes it easier because you can find everything you need in one place. So emergency preparedness and food storage are things everyone should take seriously.
I already have my eye on several items at Shelf Reliance. I love the the Providence Essential Two Person 72-hour Emergency Kit and the Gift baskets. I also am considering buying some of the basic foodstuffs, just in case. I would love to have some of the Thrive food in my garage because if something were to happen at least we would be able to feed ourselves until help came. The prices aren't bad either. The Providence Two Person Kit is only $249.99. That seems like a lot of money but, trust me, if you were to buy all these supplies separately, it would cost so much more. I know because when we lived in Florida, we spent hundreds of dollars before Hurricane season to stock up.

Well, Shelf Reliance was nice enough to give me the opportunity to try one of its products: the
CanSolidator Pantry. This little baby is a dream come true because I have absolutely no pantry space and needed something to organize it. Yes, folks, that picture to the right is MY pantry and it's a big fat mess because I just don't have space so I just jam stuff in and never know what I have or don't have.
The
CanSolidator Pantry features something they call
SmarTrac technology that automatically rotates up to 40 cans. It is adjustable so you can set it to hold cans of all one size or various sizes. I had Tom set it up for 3 sizes including the large sized cans and the little cans of kitty food. I didn't assemble it myself but watched as Tom did. After he did all the work, I realized it was so easy I could have done it myself but was glad I didn't. ;) It is really sturdy and

slipped right into the pantry with no problem. I really liked it and it has saved me so much space that I was able to organize the pantry and make it work for me. I am hoping to buy another one to even make it more organized. I really like the fact that it adjusted for the little tiny kitty food cans because I never can find a place for them and now I know exactly where they are. Fantastic!
So if you are like me and feel the need to be prepared and have supplies on hand for any emergency or just because it's the smart thing to do, you need to visit Shelf Reliance and take a look around. You also need to start preparing for any emergency.
Here comes the best part. Shelf Reliance not only gave me the opportunity to review this product but they are letting one of my readers win one for their pantry.
