CLOSED - Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes Review and Giveaway

I recently was sent a package of Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes to review. Now I have to be honest and say that I rarely use makeup but every once in a while I have to put my face on to go out. I don't use foundation but I love using bronzer, mascara and a little blush. When I feel sassy, I even use eyeshadow!

I recently attended the Type-A-Mom conference in Asheville and it was one of those situations where I had to put on my face. So I thought this would be the perfect place for me to review the Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes. During the conference, I wore makeup a few times. Usually I take off my makeup with a little soap and water but that is always iffy because while the soap will take off facial makeup, it does not do well on mascara. I always use waterproof mascara because the last thing I want to do is look like Tammy Faye Baker. Waterproof mascara is tough to get off. If the soap and water doesn't work then I have to go dig around the medicine cabinet for lotion of some sort. Bad idea because lotion usually burns my eyes and I hate using Vaseline because it's so greasy.

Well, I tried these babies and they worked. They are easy to use and come in a pouch that closes right up after use. They felt great on the face and actually cleaned really well. The bronzer and powder that I normally use came off immediately. The mascara came off relatively easy. It only took a few wipes to get it off. I also used these when I snuck back into the room to freshen up. I took one out and wiped my face. It left my face feeling clean and fresh. My skin also felt smooth.

These Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes are great to have in your purse or to travel with. I am going off to Mexico soon and these will be in my luggage because they are great if you want to just get your face free of dirt and guck and might not have soap and water handy. The pack is a little bulky but if you have a bigger purse, then they will fit nicely. Overall, this is a great product. I liked it and it worked well for me. Now if you wear a lot of makeup they might work differently but for me they were great to have. The smell was not too strong although I prefer stuff unscented. I tried another brand of wipes and the Pond's definitely worked better for me.

In addition to the Original Clean formulation that I tried there are two others: Micro-Dermabrasion, which exfoliates as well as cleanses, and Age-Defying, which is infused with retinol (a form of vitamin A) and collagen (a protein). I really want to try the Micro-Dermabrasion towlettes because I feel they would probably exfoliate quite well and I am all about exfoliating. Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes are also ophthalmologist and dermatologist tested. They contain Triple Tea Antioxidant Complex,Vitamin E and Chamomile.

They are also not that expensive in the big scheme of things. The 30-count packet has a suggested retail price of $4.79 to $5.07. Drugstore.com offers the 15-ct size for $2.24. This is a fair price for a good product. Go over to Pond's site and get more info. Also they have a coupon for $1.50 savings!! Woo-hoo!

And I know you know what's coming up next!! Yes, the sponsor has a pack of the towelettes for my readers as well.

Mandatory Entry: Visit Pond's and look around. Then come back and tell me what something you learned. Or take the Skin Diagnostic test and report back what skin type you are.

CLOSED - Solavie Desert Hair Care Duo Pack Review and Giveaway

Once again I received an opportunity to try some great hair care products. This time it was the Solavie Desert Hair Care Duo that included Hair & Body Wash and Hair Nourish & Style. The cool thing about this product is that the Shampoo is also a Body Wash and the Hair Nourish is also a Styling Gel.

Solavie is the first unisex, climate-specific skin and hair care line. Solavie created it to adapt to the environmental conditions rather than traditional skin or hair types. There are six different lines of hair and body products: Desert, Mountains, Urban, Shore, Tropics and Plains. Within each category are uniquely formulated creations of Face Wash, Face Nourish, Body Nourish, Hair & Body Wash and Hair Nourish & Style. Key ingredients include mineral-rich volcanic spring water sourced especially for Solavie®, potent anti-oxidants, and naturally-occurring phytonutrients from plants native to each Enviro-type. Each formula contains elements of and ingredients from the specific area that you’ll be visiting.

Basically if you are traveling to weather that is dry then you might want to try the Desert Duo. If you live in the city then the Urban Duo is the product to have. This is great because in my case my hair is naturally wavy. If I travel to a humid area my hair becomes frizzy. If I go somewhere with low humidity it is limp and lifeless. But with Solavie, I can chose the line that best suits the environment and not my hair type and it will make it behave. That's pretty cool.

Solavie's double concentrated formulas are made from all natural ingredients using native plant phyto-nutrients and even the bottles are made from 100% re-used or recyclable materials. Solavie also shows global responsibility in supporting 3rd world handicrafts and much of it's profits are donated to sustainable charities through Solavie Second Nature Foundation. And you all know that I am all about any company who is taking responsibility and helping the environment.

I used Solavie a few times and really liked it. The Desert Duo, which has yucca, sage oils and aloe, smelled fantastic. It has a clean and fresh smell that I loved. It didn't lather up as much as regular shampoo and that could be because they use natural ingredients but it cleaned my hair really well. I also used it as my body wash and it felt terrific. I am not sure about how the Hair Nourish is also styling gel so I just used it as conditioner. It rinsed out well and left my hair soft which was great since I recently colored it and it has been sort of dry.

I am so popping these into my luggage when I travel as well. The Solavie products snap together thus making handy dandy! The unique design keeps them together and it is small enough to possibly take in your carry on luggage. I often take my own shampoo when I travel because sometimes hotel shampoo is the pits. And now it will be easy to take this along.

I would recommend it especially if you travel. It's nice to know that these products will help your hair adapt to the environment. If you want to try Solavie products they are available at natural products stores, pharmacies, and natural beauty counters nationwide; and may be purchased online at http://www.solavie.com/. MSRP ranges from $10 to $38 CDN/US.

You all know that when I get a product to review, I love when I get one to give away and Solavie has been generous enough to have an extra Desert Duo for one of my readers. YAY! Now you all know the drill. Read the rules, follow the rules and enter!! Good Luck!

Mandatory Entry: Visit Solavie and look around. Then come back and tell me what Enviro-Tpe you are.

Success Rice Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED

I have to admit that I was a little reluctant to do this review for Success Rice. I love rice. You can even call me a riceaholic. I grew up eating rice almost everyday and it's one of my favorite foods. Why was I reluctant? Because folks, I am a Rice Snob. Yes, a snob about rice.

I grew up eating my mom's and granny's rice. Making rice was a whole event. They would finely chop onions and green peppers then saute them. Next came the rice. They would saute the rice until it was a translucent. After that a little achiote (annatto seed) was added for color and flavor. Then they would add the water, let it boil and then let it simmer for 20-25 minutes. It was delicious. But making rice the family way is time consuming and I am lazier than sin. I gave up making it that way a long time ago. Ultimately, I bought a rice cooker that makes great rice without any work on my part.

So when I was asked to review Success Rice, I thought that maybe this was like those other brands that I avoid. I received my coupon and went to the store. I had three choices: white, brown and jasmine. I always eat white rice. I am not a fan of brown rice. I like jasmine rice but never make it because I wouldn't even know where to start.

Once home I decided to make an Asian chicken with the Success Rice and fresh veggies as a side dish. I marinated the chicken in Wishbone Asian dressing. I went to the garden and grabbed some fresh green onions and green peppers and cooked them up with mushrooms and carrots.

The Success Rice was easy to make. The box comes with 3 bags of rice. I made one because I am dieting and eating less and that was enough for the two of us. You boil water, pop the bag in for 8 minutes and it's done. That is a lot faster than the steamer and actually easier.

The taste? It was great! It had that subtle taste of jasmine that paired well with the chicken and veggies I made. We actually liked it - a lot. Now, Tom will eat anything but since I am a rice snob I was surprised I liked it. My rice usually comes out sticky and lumpy. I actually like it that way. But Success Rice was perfectly cooked and it wasn't sticky or lumpy at all.

Who knew I would find an "instant" rice that I would actually like and use again? Well, I did. So thank you Success Rice for knocking me off my high horse. LOL

Now you can try Success Rice as well. I have 5 coupons for one box each of Success Rice to giveaway. So that means 5 of you will be able to try Success Rice!! Woo-hoo, 5 winners. All you have to do is read the rules and enter.

Mandatory Entry: Visit Success Rice and look around. Then come back and tell me something you learned or what your favorite recipe is on the site.

Clean Your Pantry! Pantry Makeover Challenge

This Mama Cooks is having a great contest to clean and organize your pantry. I decided to take the challenge. My pantry is so small and I can never find anything because it gets jammed up and then things go to the back and forget finding stuff because it gets lost in the back. I am sure a lot of people understand that.

I decided to look in the pantry at least twice a month and look what I have and inventory it. I take out things I have and don't want and donate it a local charity. We have two in town that I like because I think they do good work. I also got a cool gadget called a Cansolidator. It actually holds tons of cans and you can rotate them so you use the older ones first.

Besides that I tried to put the same type of food together. I put pastas on one shelf with tomato sauce. I put veggies in one place as well. I also added shelves in the back that I can place cans on top so I can see what's behind there. I also added baskets on one shelf to hold loose items like gravy mixes, popcorn, chips and snacks. It makes it much easier to find because they are in the basket. I am also trying to make sure I only buy foods that I will use. I like to keep extra food in the pantry so I decided to have one shelf of canned goods for emergencies. I don't touch that until I know that they are a few months old and then I restock it.

Here is my pantry before. Look at the willy-nillynes:

This is my pantry now. Look how nice it looks!

Thanks to This Mama Cooks and the Canned Food Alliance who runs Mealtime.org for motivating me to clean my pantry. I also found some food that I am donating to the Community Table this week. I hope to have more to donate next month as well.

Nutrisystem Update!

In weight that is. Yes folks, it's Monday and that means it is the Nutrisystem update time. I am down one more pound for a total of 8! I am only 2 away from making 10 pounds down. I am going to really work out this week and stick to the plan religiously to see if I can lose 2 pounds this week. It is a lofty goal but I want to finally hit double digit weight loss.

The plan is still easy for me to follow. The weird thing is I am also liking salads now. I look forward to having them for lunch. Now anyone who knows me, knows I am not the salad type of gal. But now it's nothing for me to have just a salad for lunch with a Nutrisystem soup or sandwich.

I find I am eating less and that's okay by me. Sure there are times I want to gorge myself but I grab some almonds or a string cheese and I am okay. But as you see, I am eating pretty well. Pancakes with fresh raspberries and sugar free syrup. Then I had some great split pea soup and I added a touch of half & half. And the other night I had macaroni & beef with some fresh tomatoes. YUMMO!

This week was also the first week I could see a difference in my body. It's not a huge difference but I feel I am slimmer. Let me tell you, that's a good feeling. WOO!

Eau Flirt Pefume Review and Giveaway - CLOSED

Oh I love to review beauty products. It's so much fun to try new products and be able to try different types. I recently had the opportunity to review another fragrance by Harvey Prince: Eau Flirt. Eau Flirt is a new fragrance that has been clinically proven to attract men with its unique formula. So it flirts for you!! I loved the packaging. It's fun and flirty. The bottle also has the same design and it is adorable.

Here is some information about Eau Flirt according to Harvey Prince:
* The world’s first perfume clinically proven to make men flirt with women
* Eau Flirt was inspired by a study conducted at the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation by two physicians

*The study tested the effects of 30 different single scent or combined ingredient scents on male sexual arousal. The combination of lavender and pumpkin pie proved to evoke the most passionate response
* Eau Flirt’s proprietary blend includes top notes black currant, plum, raspberry, apple, and black licorice and lavender, middle notes of jasmine, ylang, nutmeg and cinnamon (the classic aromas of pumpkin pie), and a drydown of musk and rare and precious woods
* Ingredients are all natural flower and plant essences and sourced from France, Italy and the U.S.
* No animal testing
* Allergy tested
* No artificial colorings

Firstly, I want to say that I love that this fragrance is not tested on animals and that no artificial ingredients are used. I am all about natural ingredients. Now I can't speak to the fact this actually makes men flirt with you. I like the idea that it does. I am not sure Tom would like me testing it out in public though. But what I can tell you, is that I liked the smell. To me, it was a floral and sweet smell. It also had a spicy undertone. That is probably from the cinnamon and nutmeg. The smell is not overpowering at all. It's light yet perfumy. It reminded me of the outdoors in the woods on a Fall day. I know that sounds weird but that is the image I got when I tried it.

Now I will be honest. It's not the typical fragrance I would purchase. I think it's because it has the spicy undertones. I am more of a clean, fruity, flowery fragrance gal. But I like Eau Flirt and would use it. Of course, I wouldn't tell Tom because he might think I am trying to get some men to flirt with me. I am dying for my sister to try it because she likes these scents and I think this would be perfect for her.

It's not inexpensive but you get what you pay for as my granny used to say. And if you want a quality product it's worth paying a little extra. The U.S. suggested retail $98 for 3.4 oz. eau de toilette spray, 1.7 oz $66, and 1 oz. purse size $36. Mini roll-ons are $19.

If you want to try Eau Flirt, you can visit the Harvey Prince website to purchase directly or find a retailer that carries Eau Flirt.

Of course since I got to try the product, you get a chance to win one for yourself. The people at Harvey Prince were wonderful enough to offer me an extra bottle for one of my readers. YAY!

Ageless Perfume Review and Giveaway - CLOSED

Once again, I received an opportunity to review another great product. This time I got a sample of AGELESS a new women's fragrance in the Harvey Prince collection. The unique aspect of Ageless is that research has shown that women who use this scent are perceived to be younger than they really are by men. Well I was all over that because at my age, every little bit counts.

Here is some info from Harvey Prince:
Ageless Fantasy® is the World's first anti-age perfume. A woman's fragrance that smells like a younger Woman. Our products have been designed to be environment friendly and absolutely safe for application on your skin. The products are based on research and expertise of leading dermatologists & doctors. Ageless Fantasy® steps out of the confined box of the average fragrance and body care products. This anti age elixir is to be consumed without any moderation: both in and out of the shower and bath, for generous use anytime you wish!
Harvey Prince used notes that are associated with youth. The blended tropical flavors of pineapple, mango and leafy greens have been known to bring a feeling of comfort often associated with positive childhood memories, thus giving a sense of coziness, youth and joy. Tropical notes bring a more youthful impression while indulgent, creamy florals – jasmine and cherry blossom appeal to the modern woman. Musk, dry woods and vanilla combine for an earthy, natural fragrance. Organic citrus natural compounds create a rich, sophisticated & energizing scent. Combined with antioxidant pomegranate Ageless achieves powerful euphoric properties, sets off a feeling of youth and excitement. Smells youthful. Feels youthful. Is youthful.
Firstly, I want to say that I love that this fragrance is not tested on animals and that no artificial ingredients are used. I am all about natural ingredients. Now I can't speak to the fact this actually makes men think you are younger than you are but I want to believe it when I use it. I like the idea that it does. What I can tell you, is that I love Ageless. It is the perfect scent for me. It smells like flowers. When I first tried it, it reminded me of sitting out on the front porch on a warm summer night, watching the river run and smelling the night blooming jasmine. It was delicious! It is sweet but not sickly sweet because it also has a faint scent of grapefruit so that cuts the sweetness and adds a little another layer of fragrance.

I am glad I got to review and try Ageless because this is the type of scent I would buy for myself. And if it does make people think I am younger well that's just an added plus for me. I will definitely be wearing this when I go out now. And I will definitely buy this scent again.

It's not inexpensive but you get what you pay for as my granny used to say. And if you want a quality product it's worth paying a little extra. The U.S. suggested retail $98 for 3.4 oz. eau de toilette spray, 1.7 oz $55, and 1 oz. purse size $21. Mini roll-ons are $9.

If you want to try Ageless, you can visit the Harvey Prince website to purchase directly or find a retailer that carries Ageless.

I am A Purex Insider!!

I found out that I was chosen to be a Purex Insider. What does that mean? It means that I was chosen to be one of the first to try Purex products and participate in promotions. That is fantastic because that means I will also be telling you about the new products and maybe even have special discounts to pass on and/or news about promotions that Purex has going on! YAY!

One of those promotions is for the new Purex Complete 3 in 1 sheets. Purex is trying to get the word on this great product. The Purex Complete 3 in 1 Laundry Sheet is a laundry detergent, fabric softener and an anti-static sheet all in one. You just toss the sheet into the washer and it releases the detergent. After the washer you toss it in the dryer and it acts as a fabric softener. Easy peasy. They have three great scents Spring Oasis, Tropical Escape and Pure and Clean.

I actually had the opportunity to try these sheets before I became an insider. I went to the website and tweeted and won!! I tried the Spring Oasis scented sheets last week and loved them. I remember telling Tom how fantastic they were. The packaging is wonderful because it keeps everything fresh and it's easy to open and close. I just tossed the sheet in the washer and let the cycle run. Then I grabbed all the clothes after they were finished washing and tossed them into the dryer with the sheet. It was great because I noticed that my clothes smelled fresh and they were softer. There was no static whatsoever. Of course, I need to wait for the winter to really see how well it works because that's when the static gets really bad. Once you finish the pack, you don't buy a whole new one but purchase refills!!

Right now you can also try the new Purex Complete 3 in 1 sheets. Go to the site and get a coupon for a $1 the new Purex Complete 3 in 1 sheets. The also have a cute video you can watch. If you are on Twitter join in to win a free package of the Purex Complete 3 in 1 sheets. I tweeted and won and so can you. It's super easy. Just push a button and tweet!! And if you have a blog or website, grab the button and place it on your site and you might win a a year's supply of Purex Complete 3 in 1 Laundry Sheets.

Good Luck and keep coming back for more updates!!

Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty

If you have teen daughters or even younger daughters you need to go check out this site created by Dove. Dove is helping all women free themselves from beauty stereotypes that hurt their self-esteem.

Dove created the Campaign for Real Beauty and Self Esteem Fund. The mission of the Fund is to create confidence-building programs and messages that embrace all definitions of beauty. Dove recognizes that back-to-school time can be a tough transition for parents and teenage girls. This is why the Dove brand has created Every Parent’s Back-to-School Tip Sheet for Today’s Teen Girl – How to Avoid a Back-to-School Breakdown.

The Back-to-School tip sheet shares ten great tips to help parents help their teen’s avoid self-esteem pit falls and make the transition back into the school year a smooth one. If you’re interested in sharing these helpful tips with your readers please let them know a pdf of the tips can be downloaded from the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty website.

I am all about anything that empowers women and especially teen girls. I think nowadays there is so much pressure to fit into an unrealistic ideal of what women should be. That leads to so many problems especially in young girls. So any program that allows women to feel good about themselves, whatever size or shape, is a good thing for everybody.

Go check out the site and, if you do have teens, let them check it out as well so they can be empowered. They also have a great Facebook page you can join as well.
