Success Rice Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED

I have to admit that I was a little reluctant to do this review for Success Rice. I love rice. You can even call me a riceaholic. I grew up eating rice almost everyday and it's one of my favorite foods. Why was I reluctant? Because folks, I am a Rice Snob. Yes, a snob about rice.

I grew up eating my mom's and granny's rice. Making rice was a whole event. They would finely chop onions and green peppers then saute them. Next came the rice. They would saute the rice until it was a translucent. After that a little achiote (annatto seed) was added for color and flavor. Then they would add the water, let it boil and then let it simmer for 20-25 minutes. It was delicious. But making rice the family way is time consuming and I am lazier than sin. I gave up making it that way a long time ago. Ultimately, I bought a rice cooker that makes great rice without any work on my part.

So when I was asked to review Success Rice, I thought that maybe this was like those other brands that I avoid. I received my coupon and went to the store. I had three choices: white, brown and jasmine. I always eat white rice. I am not a fan of brown rice. I like jasmine rice but never make it because I wouldn't even know where to start.

Once home I decided to make an Asian chicken with the Success Rice and fresh veggies as a side dish. I marinated the chicken in Wishbone Asian dressing. I went to the garden and grabbed some fresh green onions and green peppers and cooked them up with mushrooms and carrots.

The Success Rice was easy to make. The box comes with 3 bags of rice. I made one because I am dieting and eating less and that was enough for the two of us. You boil water, pop the bag in for 8 minutes and it's done. That is a lot faster than the steamer and actually easier.

The taste? It was great! It had that subtle taste of jasmine that paired well with the chicken and veggies I made. We actually liked it - a lot. Now, Tom will eat anything but since I am a rice snob I was surprised I liked it. My rice usually comes out sticky and lumpy. I actually like it that way. But Success Rice was perfectly cooked and it wasn't sticky or lumpy at all.

Who knew I would find an "instant" rice that I would actually like and use again? Well, I did. So thank you Success Rice for knocking me off my high horse. LOL

Now you can try Success Rice as well. I have 5 coupons for one box each of Success Rice to giveaway. So that means 5 of you will be able to try Success Rice!! Woo-hoo, 5 winners. All you have to do is read the rules and enter.
