POM Wonderful Review!

Have you ever had a pomegranate? I love them but boy are they unruly and hard to open. But once you do get them open, you get these little bits of juicy goodness. I rarely eat them because they are too much work but I do enjoy them. But now I can have the flavor of pomegranate in a juice: POM Wonderful. First let me share with you some information found on the POM website. They say it better than I could.

At POM Wonderful, pomegranates are our only business. We grow them, pick them and juice them ourselves. We believe in the goodness and the amazing health benefits of Wonderful variety pomegranates, and we promise 100% authentic pomegranate juice in every bottle we ship.

Not every brand is as honest as POM Wonderful. Three independent labs tested ten other brands claiming to have 100% pomegranate juice and found that nine out of ten so-called pomegranate juices had added sugar, colorants and other low-grade fruit juices. So, other juices may be less expensive than ours, but you get what you pay for.

Pomegranates are the heart and soul of our company. For the superior antioxidant health benefits and genuine pomegranate juice taste, there’s only one choice – POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice.

So not only are Pomegranates tasty but good for you as well. How cool is that? I received a few bottle of POM Wonderful to try. It's pretty concentrated so I diluted mine with a little water. It's super tarty so if you don't like sour, it might not be the for you but I found that you can add a little sugar and it's pretty good. I actually like the tartness and enjoy a juice that is not really sweet. I also tried the juice with a little ginger ale and it was really refreshing and tasty.

My friend makes a wonderful Pomtini. A little vodka, POM juice and some pomegranate seeds and you have yourself a wonderful cocktail. There is a recipe section on the Pom website you might want to check out as well. They have a recipe for a Pomtini and other recipes as well. I looked around and found one for a Spicy glazed Acorn Squash. I had all the ingredients so I decided to try it out. I love acorn squash and am always looking out for new recipes.

From the POM Wonderful website:

Acorn Squash with Spicy POM Glaze
1 acorn squash (or small butternut)
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 garlic clove, minced
Juice from 1 large POM Wonderful Pomegranate, or 1/3 cup pomegranate juice
1/3 cup honey
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon chipotle pepper powder

Preparation
Preheat oven to 375. Cut the squash in half and discard seeds. Slice squash, about 1/2 inch thick, and arrange on a baking sheet. Stick that in the oven while you do the next step. In a small saucepan, heat olive oil. Add garlic and saute until golden brown. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir to fully incorporate. Simmer until liquid reduces and becomes syrupy, about 10 minutes.

Take out the squash and brush a generous portion of glaze over each piece. Put back in the oven and cook another 20 minutes or so, until squash is soft. Serve with extra glaze drizzled on top.

This recipe was was easy to make. It was also delicious. I love acorn squash and now I have a new way to make it. I honestly didn't know you could cook with POM juice. Now I am going to be using it again.

POM Wonderful is really good and good for you. Head on over to the POM Wonderful site and see the benefits of drinking POM. Check out the recipes and make sure you follow POM on Facebook and Twitter.
