At this time of the year, we start planning our annual road trip. Every year we try to get away in the summer. Even if it is just for a few days, we always hit the road in search of an adventure. This year, we are not traveling too far but even if we are just driving a few hundred miles or a few thousand miles, we do as much as possible to save money.

Before we get on the road, we make sure our car is in good working order. With gas prices so high a few small adjustments and maintenance can save you money. • Trip Smart. Spend a few minutes performing routine maintenance before you hit the road with your family and loved ones this summer.

• Check and replace vital vehicle components at recommended intervals. Regular maintenance can prevent costly damage, improve fuel efficiency and prevent an unwanted breakdown.

These are great tips. I know when we take our road trip in August, we will be following these recommendations. Anything that can save wear and tear on our car and save us money on gas, is a good thing.
