Do you have Allergy Face? #ALLERGYFACE #ZYRTEC

Spring and Summer are not my friends. Don't get me wrong, I love Spring and Summer. These are the best time of the year to go outside and enjoy the weather after a long cold winter. The brown left by winter slowly starts turning green. The earth slowly returns to life after a long winter hibernation. The flowers start blooming and bees start buzzing. Here in Western North Carolina everything is green and beautiful.

But along with those beautiful flowers and the green trees, comes a lot of pollen. The other day I walked out to my car and there was a layer of yellow pollen all over my car! I had to wipe off the door handle and side window. I had to put on my wipers to clean off the pollen. By the look of things, this is going to be a bad allergy season!

I never had allergies until I came to live here in North Carolina.  I don't like them. Because along with the pollen comes the sneezing, coughing  watery eyes, puffy eyes and stuffy nose. Sigh. I get Allergy Face in the worst way.

I actually went to the doctor for an unrelated issue and she took one look at my allergy face and through I was really sick. I had to tell her that it is not an illness but it was actually Allergy Face. I guess I really needed a little makeup as to not scare the population!

I didn't have the time to make myself up but when I got home, I cut up some cucumbers I had in the refrigerator and put them on my eyes. Thank goodness my abuelita taught me this little trick. The cucumbers will reduce the swelling.

My mami had a different solution for Allergy Face. She would make linaza (flax seed tea). She would cool down the tea and then dunk a cotton ball in the tea and put the cotton balls on her eyes. This trick works as well but, sometimes, it is hard to find linaza.

If I have to go out, I find my concealer and slather it on like there is no tomorrow. Of course, I then have swollen eyes with concealer on them but what can you do? I find the best trick is to throw on some sunglasses and hide out in my house until my eyes get better.

Luckily, ZYRTEC® has teamed with Latina Blogger, Carmen Ordonez @VivaFashion, to share some personal beauty tips to combat Allergy Face (the beauty challenges like a puffy face, watery eyes and a red nose that are associated with typical allergy symptoms)! Thank goodness because when my allergies kick up, I have horrible Allergy Face. You can check out Carmen's tips in the video below:

I really loved the tip about eating veggies and fruits with high water content. I eat a lot of watermelon during the summer so I am thrilled to find out that this might help my puffy face and eyes when the allergies kick up!
