If you follow my blogs, you know I celebrate el Dia de Los Muertos or Day of the Dead. What I love about this tradition is that it is a day for celebrating our loved ones and remembering them without pain or sadness but with love and happiness. Growing up our family didn't really celebrate it but it was celebrated in Los Angeles. As I got older, it was one of those traditions that I picked up and now love. I also started collecting
Day of the Dead Folk art and have quite an extensive collection at my house.
Besides celebrating the dead, altars are made for the deceased and offerings are made. People make Sugar Skulls and Pan de Muerto. I never made Pan de Muerto but I might get crazy and make it this year. I usually have a little altar at my house. I am lucky and do not have many people in my life that have died. But I always remember my abuelita, Gilda every year. The past two years, my celebration also included my little kitty Shawn and, sadly, this year it will also include Scout who died this month.
It's not for everyone but for those of us who do celebrate it, it means a lot. Sometimes we forget that the dead may be better off now. Plus, they always remain in our hearts.
It is very cool that Nestle and Nescafe brands have started to understand how important this holiday is for Latinos and others. My husband is American but he has embraced my love of Dia de Los Muertos. I think it's important to have great traditions and Nescafe and Nestle have always been part of our family traditions.
To celebrate Day of the Dead, I have a great gift bag for Two (2) winners! Each bag contains:
* NESTLÉ Abuelita Chocolate syrup
* NESCAFÉ Café de Olla
* NESTLÉ Abuelita Granulated chocolate Mix
* Scarf
* Tote bag
* Recipe Cases
The scarf is awesome. It will make a nice addition to my collection. Plus, if you have never tried the cafe de olla or Abuelita chocolate you are in for a treat. Both have a spicy and cinnamon taste that is to die for!! So if you want to win, enter below on the Rafflecopter widget!
