Nissan Genome "Passion Pursuit” Day #PassionGenome

This is part of a sponsored campaign with Latina Mom Bloggers and Nissan. However all opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission Guidelines, 16 C.F.R Part 255.

As part of the Nissan Versa Note "Passion Genome" campaign, I had to go out and find a local passion. That was easy for me because I was able to put a lot of my passions into one trip. When I logged into the Passion Genome to find my passions, my first was travel and my second was food and cooking. That was a no-brainer.

I love food and I love cooking. The other things that I have become passionate about these past few years is eating fresh grown and organic food and creating awareness about the food insecurity in this country. In my little town all that comes together in our local farmers market. The Jackson County Farmers Market is not only a place to find fresh food but some of the proceeds help our local food pantry: The Community Table.

My "Passion Pursuit" day started early and I headed out to the Farmers Market. In the summer, we have a bigger market but I am lucky that in the winter, we have a smaller market that has less items but still fresh nonetheless. I found some great items. Besides food, the market has handmade soaps and clothes. But my passion is cooking so I went right for the food.

There were a lot of things to choose from and it was tough to choose. Ultimately, I found fresh farm eggs. If you never had fresh eggs, I feel sad for you because there is nothing like fresh eggs. At $3 a dozen, I bought some. I also found some some fresh green mixed salad greens. I found some fresh homemade salsa and brownies.

I was fund talking to the vendors and finding out what items they will have next week and where they will be during the week. It is important to support these vendors and their passion to grow, bake, create or make products that are not only healthy and beautiful but help the community! Their passion opens the door to my passion.

That fits in with the 2014 Versa Note campaign because it offers best-in-class MPG and interior/cargo space for an excellent price. I also grow fresh veggies during the summer and I have thought about selling them because I believe people should have access to fresh food. I can see myself packing up my car and taking my goods to market!

When I got home, I took all my goodies and tried to create a meal. Since it was still early, I decided to use 3 of the products I bought. I made a fresh huevo ranchero with toast. It was delicious. This is my type of cooking. I love gathering ingredients and then trying to create something from them. Cooking to me is an art form. It fills my spirit and tummy!
