To cut calories, I use butter substitutes. I am picky about butter substitutes. Not all of butter substitutes are created equal. I don't use them all the time but I like to keep some in my fridge not only for me but for guests who might not eat real butter.
I recently received a beautiful basket filled with a stainless silver spreading knife & cutting board set, a variety of hand crafted artisan breads, one (1) 12 oz. tub of I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!® Deliciously Simple™ and one (1) 12 oz. tub of Country Crock® Simply Delicious, two new spreads from Unilever. Both products are made with real and simple ingredients. The products include a blend of canola oil, creamy yogurt, a pinch of salt and no artificial preservatives.
The FDA says I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter! and Country Crock spreads are made without partially hydrogenated oils and contain 0g trans fat per serving. You can find more nutritional information here: http://www.itisgoodtoknow.com/spread-facts/. That is a real plus for me especially during the holidays. I want 0g trans fat! I do not need more fat in my life!
The package I received had some delicious bread. What better way to test the taste of any product than on fresh bread? I am a bread fanatic. I heated up the bread to have with dinner. I tried the spreads and I liked them. What I love about spreads is that they are easy to spread on the bread. The spreads were tasty. I also used them on our baked potatoes. Hubby had no idea I didn't use butter and he never noticed and I didn't tell him because he is picky that way.
If you want something other than butter, you need to check out these two new products. They might be the right product for you. It's good to know they have 0g trans fat and, for me, they taste pretty darn good. I like that the products contain no artificial ingredients and are made with simple ingredients.
