No Soup for You! Original SoupMan soups Review! #SoupManFan

This is a review in partnership with The Niche Parent Network. All opinions are my own and based on my experience with this product.

The last few weeks have been tough. I am a California/Florida girl living in the mountains of North Carolina. And I am freezing. The polar vortex came and dropped out temperatures to zero and the weather has not hit 40 degrees in about 2 weeks. Plus, it snowed.

When the weather is this cold, I suffer and I try to keep warm any way possible. One of the ways I try to keep warm is eating hot foods that also comfort me. Of course, this is when I start eating a lot of soups and stews. I like eating soup as an entree with some crusty bread. Hubby is not a soup lover but if I make him a grilled cheese sandwich, he will always ask for a side of soup!

I like making soup sometimes but I prefer using pre-made soup and just heating it up. Sue me, I'm lazy that way. So when I had the opportunity to review The Original SoupMan soups, I was thrilled. You all know I love reviewing food! I bet you didn't know that the Original SoupMan's world famous soups were famous long before the famous “Seinfeld” episode that inspired the Soup Nazi character on Seinfeld's “No soup for you!” episode. That is one of my favorite episodes ever!

Okay, I digress. I received a pack of soups that included various flavors. There was a Chicken Noodle, Lobster Bisque, Lentil Soup, Tomato Bisque, Jambalaya, Crab & Corn and Chicken Gumbo. I had no idea what to start with but I tried the Chicken Noodle first because that is my favorite soup. I have to say that I was not a fan of this soup. It was good but I felt that it was too thick and creamy, for my taste. I like my chicken noodle light.

The other two soups I tried were the Lentil Soup and Tomato Bisque. The Lentil was very good. Since I do not make lentil soup often, this was a real treat. This soup was also thick but it is supposed to be. And it was filled with chunky lentils and veggies. The Tomato Bisque was so good. This soup was creamy and you could taste the tomatoes. It also had an herbaceous taste. It was perfect with a grilled cheese sandwich. I could even dip my sandwich in the soup. YUMMO!! Two thunks up.

I didn't try the rest of the soups but I am sure they are good as well. Hubby cannot wait to try the Lobster Bisque and the Crab and Corn. I liked that the soups were low calorie. The Chicken Noodle only had 170 calories and the other soups were all under 280 calories, which is great for me since I am trying to eat better. Some have a sodium that is a little high but, for the most part, I would definitely buy the Lentil and Tomato soup again.

I have to say that besides the taste, what I love about the Original SoupMan soups is that they use Tetra Pack for packaging the soups. Tetra Packs are 100% free of BPA and are better for the environment. Not only is this more convenient in my kitchen, but it is green and I really appreciate when companies make a difference.

  7. As a NC foothills gal I don't know how you manage in the mountains, I can't keep warm here near Charlotte. But I digress. I loved those Seinfeld episodes. You can bet if I saw those in the store I would buy them for the sake of nostalgia. But nice to know that they also taste good!
