The Beauty of Nature with Aveeno Active Naturals!

I know it's Spring but here in North Carolina, it still feels like Winter. Sigh. Cold weather always brings out the worst in my skin. I suffer dry, itchy and scratchy skin. I get alligator skin on my legs and my hands are so dry, I need to put lotion on several times a day.

Sometimes, I have to get creative to take care of my dry skin. I think back to when I was a little girl and my mom and grandmother used to use home remedies for problems such as dry skin. I remember when our skin was itchy, my grandmother used to make us take baths in oatmeal to help the itchiness. It worked!

My mom loved using cocoa butter for dry skin. She would buy in these big blocks and leave it in the bathroom cabinet. When her skin was dry, she would go and rub the block and it would release its oils and her hands were soft and silky. I always thought that was the strangest thing ever but it worked.

Did you know you could heat oil and put in fresh rosemary leaves for earaches? Well, that's how they cured our earaches. To refresh their skin, they would put water in a bottle, add rose petals and take a cotton ball and wipe their face. Cucumbers were always used to take down the swelling around their eyes. For them, natural ingredients were the best thing. To this day I use those little tricks that I learned from my mom and grandmother.

My mami and abuelita knew this because they learned it from their mamis and abuelas. I am glad they passed it down.

I think that is wonderful because I know so many of my Latina friends have a lot of tips passed down to them from their mothers and grandmothers.

Jawbone UP! Review #vzwbuzz

I promised myself that this year, I would try to get healthier. I need to lose weight but it's not about that but just trying to lead a healthier lifestyle. I turned 50 this year and I need to wake up and do something for myself.

We have already started eating a more plant-based diet. We haven't given up meat but are eating less. I have also started getting on the treadmill and walking. I have given up artificial sweeteners and am trying to give up sugar. Every little bit helps.

I recently had the opportunity to try a new device through the #VZWBuzz group. The device is the Jawbone UP! The Jawbone UP is a fitness tracking device. By downloading the app on your phone, the Jawbone will track your exercise, sleep and food intake.

Downloading the app was easy. I have an Android phone and I went to the PlayStore and got it for free. It took minutes to download. Charging the Jawbone is easy as well. I just plugged it into my laptop for a few hours. I had a few issues because the light would not indicate it was charged but once I hooked it up to my phone, the app told me it was totally charged. And the charge is good up to 10 days!

Once it was connected, it asked me a few questions about my height, weight and my goals. I chose 10 steps a day and 8 hours of sleep per day. Then all I did was put on the bracelet. It was weird at first because I do not wear jewelry. It took a few days for me to get used to it. But once I did, I never through about it.

What I love about the Jawbone is that it really gave me insight about my exercise habits. I work a lot sitting down on the computer and after a few hours the Jawbone reminds me to get up and do something else. I guess it is telling me I am lazy! I have never hit my goal of 10,000 steps yet but once I get back on the treadmill I will.

I really like how the app breaks down how many calories you burned. It also tracks how many times I wake up during the night and when. It lets me know when I was sleeping deeply or lightly. I was surprised at how little I really sleep and I know I need to work on that.

I can also track my food and drink intake if I want. I am not sure I want to do that, yet. It seems like a lot of work. I also receive emails from Jawbone telling me if I reached my goals or not. It is a great little device to have. I think it will definitely keep me on track. I am already feeling guilty if I do not have at least 5,000 steps a day.

The Jawbone UP retails for $129.00. It is a great price for a device that can help you keep track of your movement and remind you that you need to do more.

Neutrogena Pore Refining Product Giveaway!

As I get older, I have noticed that my skin is not getting better. In fact, it is getting a little more ruddy and I can see my pores. It is also not as smooth and healthy as it once was. I have really started taking care of my skin. I have never really done that before.

Some of the best products I have found are Neutrogena products. I swear by the Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil Free Acne Wash. I don't have acne but it is the best exfoliator I have found. It really works to get the dead skin off my face and then I can use a moisturizer and get my skin looking halfway decent.

I like the Pore Refining Exfoliating Cleaner better that the Acne Wash, I use. I think it is more appropriate for my age and my skin. I t left my skin clean and smooth. The Daily Cleanser is wonderful for those days when my skin needs a pick me up. And the Toner is great to keep my skin firm, although, I have to say that is getting harder and harder to do! Plus, my pores are getting smaller and I love that.

There is always something going on and I am one of those people who likes to be connected all the time. I am always wondering what I am missing out on if I am not watching the big games, the breaking news or TV shows. I guess I have a bad case of FOMO (fear of missing out). Right now, I am worried I am missing some of the Big Games going on this March! With 68 basketball teams vying for a title, I need to stay connected at all times.

I have my TV on while I work on my laptop but I prefer having my laptop because if I want to do multiple projects or watch various things, I can do so on the laptop. I always have multiple windows open. I am blogging, facebooking, tweeting, streaming video and sometime even skyping.

I am lucky that I have this great Sony Vaio laptop because it gives me all the connectivity I want and need. I can stream videos and TV shows. I love that I can do that. Recently, we missed a few episodes of "Justified" and we were able to see the episodes we missed on my laptop. The laptop is the perfect size to watch streaming video. I cannot watch on a smartphone or tablet. I like my screen a little bigger.

Plus the laptop is portable and I can take it to the kitchen, bedroom or even watch while I am on the treadmill. Plus, as I am "catching it all" I can still be connected to any social media I want. And I can also be working on projects as well. A smartphone is too small. A tablet is also too small and I cannot drag my 60 inch TV around the house. So I will stick with my laptop.

Lubriderm Lotion Giveaway!!

I cannot wait for winter to be over. It has been brutal. I have never been so cold in my life as I was this winter. And, my skin is a hot mess! When it gets cold, my skin turns into a scratchy, dried, flaky mess. I get alligator skin and it is not pretty folks.

It really moisturizes and gets it my skin soft and smooth. I use the Lubriderm Daily Moisture for Normal to Dry Skin. Hubby loves the Lubriderm Daily Moisture for Normal to Dry Skin for Sensitive skin.

The lotion goes on smoothly and it does not leave our skin greasy. It also feels good going on especially when my skin is super dry. I also like that it does not irritate my skin. It is also fragrance free and that is a plus for hubby.

This time I tried 2 new products: Daily Moisture Lotion with Shea + Calming lavender Jasmine and the Daily Moisture with Sunscreen. The fragrance of he Lavender Jasmine is amazing but not overpowering. It is a light scent that makes me feel good. I loved having Sunscreen in the lotion. I always forget to put on sunscreen so this helps me stay protected as well.

Overall, what can I say about Lubriderm except that I really like using it. I always have a few in my bathroom cabinet so we never run out. If you haven't tried Lubriderm, you should.It might work for you like it does for our family.

Hipzbag Review and Giveaway!

You all know I travel, a lot. When I travel, I always have to figure out what I have to bring on that certain trip and what I can leave at home. It's a struggle. When we traveled to Europe, I had to pack for 2 weeks. I also had only one bag for the whole 2 weeks. I had to edit, a lot. When we travel by plane, I have to take less. When we travel by car, I can bring everything I want including the kitchen sink!

I also have to consider my tech stuff. So I need a laptop bag for some trips. A smaller bag is I only take my tablet. And then I need space for all the chargers and cords. This is why I am writing this post. I found that something smaller that fits my traveling lifestyle, yet gives me enough space to actually have everything I need handy! The Hipzbag is my new traveling companion and I couldn't be happier.

I also tried to make the master bathroom look a little more refined with the same design. I can't decide where I want to keep my design though. I might have to buy another tray and more accessories and do both bathrooms. I loved this design so much that I know I will be using it again in the new house we just bought! Our new house has a white bathroom and will need a pop of color as well.

Remember, whether you’re decorating at home or adding a pop of color to your clutch, Kleenex has you covered. It is a really inexpensive way to brighten any room. Plus, it is always wonderful to have Kleenex handy especially during winter. And with spring coming up, I always keep several boxes in every room of the house.

First introduced for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, this initiative helps future athletes reach their full potential through U.S. Olympic, Paralympic and Community Programs that inspired Team Citi on their journey. Together, we can nurture the next generation of U.S. athletes on their road from ambition to achievement.

I appreciate when these Olympians take time from their busy training schedules and get involved in the community. I believe they are great role models for kids. Usually these Olympians have worked so hard to make it where they are today. I think when kids see this, they can believe that they can also achieve what the Olympians have done as well.  This will give the kids self esteem and confidence.
