I saw "Into the Woods" on stage years ago and I loved it. The music is great, the story is wonderful and now it's a movie!! I cannot wait to see this! I am also glad it was directed by Rob Marshall who also did one of my favorite musicals into movies, Chicago! This is a must see this Christmas!
“Into the Woods” is a modern twist on several of the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy)—all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife (James Corden & Emily Blunt), their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch (Meryl Streep) who has put a curse on them. Rob Marshall, the acclaimed filmmaker behind the Academy Award®-winning musical “Chicago” and Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” directs the film, which is based on the Tony®-winning original musical by James Lapine, who also penned the screenplay, and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics. Produced by Marshall, John DeLuca, “Wicked” producer Marc Platt and Callum McDougall, “Into the Woods” will be released in theaters Dec. 25, 2014.

Forgive me if this is a duplicate, it didn't say that it had been saved for approval. I read about the play several years ago when it was on Broadway and it sounded wonderful. I am sure that it will be an awesome movie and I sure hope I get to see it.
ReplyDeleteThis is my type of movie! I can not wait to see the movie Into the Woods. I think Meryl Streep looks scary in this movie and I bet she is so good. This is a movie that I am going to want to see in the theater! I will take my sister, and if I get scared I can hold onto her!
ReplyDeleteLove Rob Marshall's work. And I have enjoyed Grimm and other series that banks off the old nursery rhymes
ReplyDeleteI like that this is a combination of many Grimms Fairy Tales. Sounds fun. Thanks for the preview.
