The instructions were easy to follow. There are very difficult recipes and easy ones. Highlights include: oysters au gratin with garlic butter; buttery crepes with lemon sugar; chicken with lavender honey and lemon sauce; mango sorbet with pineapple, caramel syrup, and sea salt; sole with butter sauce and butter-fried capers; pain bagna filled with tuna salad, vegetables, olives, and Dijon; and much more.
I tried the French Onion soup and Croque Monsieur because that was the first thing I ate in Paris and I will always remember that. The recipe was was and the meal delicious.
If you have a foodie on your gift list, this book is a must buy. I think anyone who enjoys cooking would enjoy learning how to make French classics.

ReplyDeleteNo, I have never been to France, but in my early twenties I was quite smitten with French food, thanks largely to Julia Child. To this day, I can toss off a Pate Brisee or a Béchamel sauce without giving it a second thought!
