This is Steve Martin, assistant fire chief of the LA County fire Department. Chief Martin was involved in the making of the movie. Que genial! He kept mentioning how excited he was that his name was in the credits!
These firefighters put their life on the line everyday to fight fires pero they never think twice about it. They are indeed mis heroes. And while, the movie has its own heroes flying around and doing great things, es importante to teach kids that real life heroes are people they should look up to. There are everyday heroes that make a difference in our lives. Besides firefighters, there are teachers, policemen or maybe its their abuelito, tio, tia, hermano or their parents. For me it was my abuelita, who gave me loved me unconditionally, taught me to cook and gave me the best advice ever. I was so dichosa to her her in my life.
I think Planes: Fire and Rescue really captured the struggle of the firefighters. While it is still an animated movie, I think the movie really shows the bravery and courage of the people who do this kind of work. And the movie does so in a lighthearted yet serious way. This is such a great movie for people of any age. I know I loved it. I laughed and even teared up a little at the end. The movie is fun and engaging and your kids will love it. Plus, it is a good way to open up a conversation with your kids about their everyday heroes. It is also a good way to let your kids know that heroes come in all shapes and sizes.
Here is a fun activity sheets you can print out and give your kids as well.
