This is so important right now especially in places like California where they are experiencing a drought. But even in places that have water, it is important to conserve as much water as possible. Being water-conscious is something we all should strive for at these times.
Here are some great tips from the ICA that will help you keep your car in tip-top shape this summer:
1. Your car is a reflection of who you are
There’s no question your car is a reflection on you. Whether it’s all about horsepower, efficient gas mileage or four-wheel drive, your vehicle represents who you are, where you've been and where you intend to go. The design, form and function are extensions of your style and personality. So, if you haven’t given it a wash in a while, what does that say about you? You wouldn't walk out the door without a shower, a shave and a little spruce up. (Would you?) So why shouldn't you show that same respect for your car?
From dirt and dust to grit and grime, give that car its reflective shine at a WaterSavers car wash. WaterSavers professional car washes use an average of 40 gallons of fresh water or less per car, according to the International Carwash Association. As a frame of reference, that 10 minute shower you took used 25 gallons of fresh water. WaterSavers washes also recycle and filter the water to prevent harmful chemicals from entering groundwater supplies that feed rivers and streams. To find a WaterSavers car wash near you, visit Washwithwatersavers.com.
2. Regular car washes protect your paint job
That beautiful factory paint job will dull and begin to chip away if you don’t maintain it. Regularly washing your car and waxing it will help keep your car looking as good as it did when you pulled out of the dealer lot.
3. Professional car washes help maintain the value of the vehicleFor more information about the benefits of keeping your car clean visit Water Savers.
You might be more inclined to spend money on engine issues than the car’s exterior, but stains and rusting can drastically decrease the value of the vehicle over time. Especially after a long winter, exposure to the elements can cause damage. Professional car washes thoroughly clean the undercarriage of your vehicle, where there may be a buildup of road salt that could cause corrosion to the car's exhaust and muffler system.
These are great tips. Your car will be ready for anything this summer! And just in time for those summer road trips, I have a great gift pack courtesy of ICA for one lucky reader. The gift pack includes:
* Auto kit with jumper cables, gloves, flashlight, reflective cones and other must-have tools ($45 value)

wash the outside and vacuum, dust the inside
ReplyDeleteI keep the car clean by getting it washed, and vacuuming the inside.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
I take my car to a hands free car wash, they wash the outside and inside for $15.
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/carawling/status/592708930125602816
ReplyDeleteMainly, I try not to get it dirty. For the inside I keep a clean rag, a trash bag and a windshield screen in the car. For the outside, I hose it down between trips to the carwash just to keep the dust to a minimum. I also have a little vacuum in my garage to clean the inside.
ReplyDeleteI don't keep my car as clean as I would like too, I need to work on that. I try to clean it a few times each year.

ReplyDeleteWe generally take it to a wash yourself station, but sometimes run it through a car wash as well.
ReplyDeleteI try to do a weekly clean out of the car.
ReplyDeleteWe take our car to a car wash every so often to keep it clean.
ReplyDeleteWe live where it rains quite a bit, cleaning is done when needed, usually after a hard rain, wipe car down with rags.
ReplyDeleteI try and and get it washed and vacuumed out every few weeks.
ReplyDeleteI take it through the car wash about once every other month and I keep the inside pretty clean with a garbage bag and I dust and do the windows. I like a clean car!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I'm at a stop light I lick it - just kidding.
ReplyDeleteOur regular gas station has a wash, which we have to use often. After winter, when all the salt and chemicals are used on our roads, we have to get all that stuff off the car so it doesn't rust. Especially the undercarriage. The only way I know to do that is to get it done at a big time car wash. Besides, it feels great to have a clean and shiny car.
Usually I hand wash and wax the outside at home, and take the Shop Vac out and get the dirt on the inside, then Armor-All and Febreze.
ReplyDeleteI don't keep my car clean at all it's always a mess!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband cleans and vacuums our car regularly.

ReplyDeleteWe (my husband and 2 teenage boys) are pretty picky about keeping our cars clean. Keep it vacuumed and also we have to clean up the salt stains on the carpet through out the winter. Our cars need a good spring cleaning. Resolve spray on salt stains, clean out the mats, vacuum and wipe down the interior.
