Light Between Oceans is such a beautiful film. It is visually stunning. The cinematography is amazing and if you are a film buff, you will appreciate. The couple played by Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander meet and fall in love. Tom, is a war veteran who comes to Janus Rock to a be lighthouse keeper. They meet marry and then try to have a family. After miscarriages, it seems they might not be able to have their own children. But fate steps in and a baby is washed onshore. Isabel convinces Tom to keep the child. When the child's mother, played by Rachel Weisz, appears the film becomes full of pain, loss and heartache. It is heart wrenching so have your Kleenex ready.
The movie is slow at times but overall it was really good. The acting is first rate. Rachel Weisz is always solid in her performances. Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender's chemistry is amazing. The direction by Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine) takes you a journey that takes you inside the pain and loss of people caught up in unusual circumstances.

I would enjoy this story partly because it is off-center from movies of rage and violence.
